I recently had the pleasure of meeting Brandon Nelson and Christina Cernik of Raw California. They are currently traveling the state of California documenting passionate artists that call the Golden State call home. We met while I was helping photographer Chris Burkard hang artwork and provide furniture for his new gallery in Avila Beach, CA.  They stopped by the visit his new space on their big trip. I'm constantly inspired by meeting such talented and adventurous individuals in the arts. Check out their photographs from their Adventures in San Luis Obispo

May 9, 2015

Rideshare's Bike Month has daily events happening across SLO county to celebrate cycling in May. Be sure to check their page for more events. I'll be hosting a bike-in movie night with my neighbors Flanders Bicycle.

Starts at sunset: 1951 Santa Barbara St  SLO, CA

Set against the rich hues of India, Beyond The Surface follows Ishita Malaviya, India’s first female surfer, and fellow wave riders Crystal Thornburg-HomcyLiz ClarkLauren HillEmi Koch, and Kate Baldwin. While on their journey through southern India, the women surfers and the people they meet share experiences and stories related to surfing, yoga, and ecological awareness, resulting in mutual feelings of hope, a fuel for change, and the empowerment of women. Highlighted by the undeniable power of surfing, Malaviya and her group of talented women search for the perfect waves as they forge with the people of India an unshakable determination to make the world a better place.

A fine day off

jamie coxonComment

If there is one thing central coast surf is know for is it's generally fickle nature. So when there's a groundswell in the water and howling offshore winds you just have to drop whatever you're doing and clear your day. Hence the beauty of being self employed. The conditions on the weekend of Jaunary 24/25 showed the Central Coast at its finest.

Grandpas Block plane

jamie coxonComment

I received this small block plane as a Christmas gift from my uncle. I took a little time to remove all the rust and old paint. Now it works as good as new. It's an excellent little addition to the workshop. I imagine my grandfather would be glad to see it back in use.

Paulownia Fins

I generate a lot of small scrap material from furniture projects. Luckily there is no shortage of remnants to explore with in the shop. I had been saving this Paulownia for a while now, just perfect for a pairs of fins for my buddy Derek at Wave Tribe

I'm presenting a screening of EPM this December. The Film will be projected outdoors on the adjoining warehouse. Keep an eye on Instagram for more information.

This is a delightfully retro 45 minutes of experimental surf film shot entirely on Super 16mm.

Bill Boards

Quick collaborative project with my friend Guy Quezada, who is responsible for the beautiful leather work on this piece. The boards are made from Reclaimed French Oak used by local wineries in San Luis Obispo County. And to top it all off, Foremost Wine Company provides a seasonal seed packet so you can grow your own organic veggies right at home.

FOREMOST WINE COMPANY stems from a community of passionate farmers, wine makers and wine drinkers, with the common goal of making great wine accessible to the masses.

“ How very fine it is to leaf through a 176-page book on architecture — from baliwicks to zomes — and find no palaces, no pyramids or temples, no cathedrals, skyscrapers, Kremlins or Pentagons in sight…instead, a book of homes, habitations for human beings in all their infinite variety.”
